On that thread with suggested improvements a few months ago

There was a thread a months ago in which people were discussing ways in which this site could be made better.
Maybe I'm just being entitled dick (or its because I've been reading up on UX and UI in app design), but is anything happening with that?
For example, several members agreed that a light grey on dark grey (with tiny text) theme was off-putting - is anything being done there?
Also, it could be a good idea to have the recent threads "above the fold" on the homepage as opposed to way down on the left hand side.
As I said, maybe everyone else is fine with the site but I think these improvements really could make it as good as it can be.
