Some of you may have already seen this but here are some new screens and info on SR 2. It looks ok but nothing special. These are early shots so there will be some improvement with time.

Well of course they're nothing special yet. No company wants to give away their trump card right from the off. They want to show you what it's not just now so they can amaze you towards the end and switch the sceptics to fans.

GT5 for example, they are showing you the cars and the tracks and the amzing graphics, but their two trumps are the day/night and weather modules and the damage, these wont be seen till the incredibly late stages or even upon release, cause these are what will make the games a part of gaming history.

SR2 will most likely be released in 2008 to compete against GTA IV so the graphics won't improve too much. And really the game just doesn't look exiting, when I saw early screens of Killzone 2 or Crysis I was like wow but with the SR 2 pics its more of a meh. And I disagree with the waiting till the end philosophy, if I'm a developer/publisher, I want all the positive hype that I can get to combat the beast known as GTA IV.

You do know that Project Gotham Racing 4 will have day/night and weather changes and many racing games have had damage so GT5 will not revolutionize the genre, they'll just continue to refine it to great heights which is still good enough.

I dont mean to wait right to the end of development to release your trumps but slowly show them as you go but not letting anyother player see your two aces in the hole, so what if you have a pocket ace, that's good because it leads everyone into a false sense of security where you'll beat them all at the end of the River.

Isn't talking in poker terms great.

And where did meh come from, so many people say it, i no one knows where it came from.

As for saints row, to tell you the truth i have no idea what it is about. To me it sounds like a sort of gang game where you defend terrirtory from attcking gangs. I've never picked up the case and turned it over, to be honest i never really cared.

I get you on your poker terms and I agree but when it comes to GTA, you don't want to wait too long.

As for meh, I don't know. I never really use the term in normal life but I needed a quick word to describe my feeling of the pics so I choose it.

Your basically right on the whole gang thing with Saints Row and like you I'm not too interested in it either. Ask Sedans since he owns it if you want to know more. One positive thing about the series is the fact that it has online play and this feature is supposed to play a big part in the sequel so we'll see how things turn out. And its outcome could possibly effect the next Driver game in terms of online so it kind of is important.

Why would saints row effect driver online status?

If SR 2 releases in 2008 and the online play works real well then Reflections can use some of its ideas as "inspiration" when trying to decide what there going to do with next-gen Driver's online play. Remmeber, there hasn't really been any online paly in a free-roam game before.

Honestly, the next-gen Driver's name, story, and most features are a complete mystery buy online play is a 100% guarantee.

Is it? Since when was Driver Online a garunteed thing. I hope it is. And it better be like me and Lseven7 had wanted it to be, i'm not sure if i posted that somewhere. If i haven't i think i will post a thread.

Of coarse its a guarantee, Coyote says he has a Driv3r online beta vid and DPL was supposed to have online but it was canned at the last minute due to quality reasons. So the next logical step is online play because it will mostly likely re-invent the Driver name.

You (and Lseven7) ideas were posted....there probally not going to happen since well Driver is not a MMO (Massively Multiplater Online etc.) game

I always thought i had posted that, where exactly is it? I know i posted the Driver:Chaos Theory idea though. but if they made the Driver game an MMO it would actually be quite awesome, either that or they could have a smaller online game and create extra characters using Eurphoria.

The Following is from Gameplanet.

THQ has announced Saints Row 2, sequel to the multi-million unit selling title, is scheduled to deliver all new, genre-defining features and game play for the Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2008.

Developed by THQ's critically acclaimed internal studio Volition using their proprietary open-world engine, Saints Row 2 will offer "vastly expanded" customisation options, a totally transformed and expanded city of Stilwater, all new vehicles, sandbox tools and toys as well as both online co-op and competitive multiplayer. More information on the game can be found on the official Saints Row 2 website at aintsrow2.com.

"Saints Row set the bar for next-gen open-world development, earning praise for its unmatched customisation, controls, and the genre's first-ever online multiplayer [mode]," said Scott Guthrie, executive vice president of sales and marketing, THQ. "The team at Volition, Inc. is leveraging invaluable experience gained on Saints Row to build Saints Row 2 into a game that sets the standard for combat, player freedom, customisation, vehicle gameplay, team-based co-op and the most compelling online open world experience to date."

"Saints Row 2 has a much darker and more sinister story that leads your character down a path of betrayal, revenge and redemption against the city that has left him for dead, although we've blended that with the same light-hearted humour from the original," said Greg Donovan, lead producer, Volition, Inc. "Couple that with the most robust open-world feature set ever developed in the genre, and Saints Row 2 promises a gaming experience that will offer players the perfect balance of gripping narrative and compelling gameplay options."

Don't know where you posted it but you had the idea that respected members could be the police and if players commited crimes they would face jail time right?

I don't know, it could be interesting but then it would have to be a PC game since MMO's aren't too popular on console yet. And when it comes to Driver, well let's put it this way, the PC Driver ports don't exactly light up the sales charts so your idea is a little extreme.....for now.

But the console want to have amazing online gameplay especially Microsoft. And now with the advancements in Broadband really there is no reason a console cant handle an MMO.

And yes that was the idea that i posted.

Just noticed your post about SR2 and Gameplanet, that's the same text that's in the article link in my opening post in this topic.

Microsoft has XBOX Live and that's good and all but Sony will have Home so MMO's will for sure be coming. But Driver is more about the story and the single player aspect, so the online play in the next Driver will most likely not be that advanced. Kind of off topic but I really want to get involved in a MMO since I've never tried one.

Sorry I never read either of the texts i just decided to post this new one.

And what the hells home, have sony changed the online name, cause atleast in NZ it's call Net Play.

PSN (Playstation Network) is still the same but here's one simple and to the point video showing you what Home is and what it will offer. I think its cool but it'll be time consuming...

Okay. I'll try to take a look.

As for the online play. I wrote three lines under someone elses thread. It wasn't even the main idea of what we thought could be done. It's in the wishlists but i think i might make a new one somewhere thats better than the old one.
