Take-Two Interactive, parent company of publisher 2K Games, has seemingly registered domains for Mafia 3.

It is worth noting that domain registrations are relatively easy to fake. The ones attached to Mafia 3 include servers located at RockstarGames.com, in addition to Take2Games.com, which is somewhat unusual.

It’s 1968 and the rules have changed, according to this Mafia 3 cinematic reveal trailer.

The game takes place in a re-imagined New Orleans, filed with era-inspired cars, fashion and music, and it is a “haven for organised crime.” The Italian mob controls illegal gambling, drugs, and prostitution, and corrupt police and politicians are on the payroll.

This is the city Lincoln Clay comes home to after leaving Vietnam.

Orphaned as a child, Lincoln finally feels a sense of “family” with the city’s black mob, finding a “surrogate father and brother” within the organization.

Unfortunately, his new family is betrayed and wiped out by the Italian mob. And so Lincoln’s tale turns to revenge, and all out war against the Italians.

As the story progresses, Lincoln will align himself with other criminals to build his own empire and a new family, transforming the city of New Orleans in the process.

Mafia 3 is in development at Hangar 13 and will be released on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2016.

Mafia 3 Director: Lethal Kills Can Be Turned Off, Violence In The Player’s Control

Brutal takedowns are something main protagonist Lincoln Clay has at his disposal. It will be up to the players how they use the feature. Not only will takedowns be optional, but so will lethal kills themselves. In an exclusive interview with We Write Things, Haden Blackman, who is the creative director and studio head at Hangar 13, talked about the game’s violence not going over the top and how some of that is in the player’s control.

“From very early on, we wanted this game to feel tonally different than previous Mafia games. Mafia II, in particular, provided a very romanticized version of the Mafia – which was fitting for that game, because it was set during the Golden Age of the Mafia.
