Because video games are fun.

I've heard that water is removed on the PS3 and Xbox360 versions which is stupid. They should have at least made the water optimized and low detail for those consoles. As for the PC version, I wonder what it will be like when I get a 6GB 324BIT video card and run this game. (The hilarious part is, the video card I'm buying for this tower costs more then the entire tower alone.)

uhm
what
so chicago is in an uberdrought?
they removed the retardedly detailed dynamic water, that's all.
and what frigging card on the market has 6gb of vram, the frigging Titan Z? Which costs as much as the average Iroc-Z/Foxbody Mustang/Cutlass Supreme on Craigslist($3,000)

Watch Dogs isn't all about the graphics. The CPU has a lot of work to do as well.
Did you catch the simulation effects of the wind movement in the game for the PC version. That and plenty of other things recommends a 3.5Ghz eight-core CPU.

(the PC demo trailer)

For the best effects they recommend a high end Nvidia graphics card.

I was recently looking at the 880M mobile nvidia graphics. It costs $1000 standalone but comes with a whopping 8GB of video memory. Which got me thinking what kind of laptop gamer would get anywhere near that without reaching the bandwidth the card is capable off. I reckon Watch Dogs won't use any more than 3gb of video memory at highest settings.

Ah, I really didn't look into it. Some idiot on YouTube quickly mentioned it, left all detail out. I was busy out and about in the time so I really didn't care to look into it. I knew water wouldn't be removed, that would be extremely retarded. Thanks for ACTUALLY giving me the right info.

Hmmm, madness, would that card be better then this? http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Supp ... video+card Even know the video memory is half of the one your talking about, I've had a LOT of issues with cards of the same specs but perform so much differently. Example: 512MB video card running at 500Mhz, another one but slightly older model by a different brand, the newer one runs very sluggish compared to the older one. :|

Titan is defiantly better, you have to remember 880M is a mobile graphics card for laptops. Since I'm a laptop gamer I tend to focus on mobile graphics which will always be behind the high end desktop graphics cards.

^ game-debate.com is great for comparing CPU and GPU's. I pulled up a comparison between the 880M and the titan, the titan is 43% better (nearly double the graphics performance).
Actually a little less because that website doesn't have the 8gb version of the 880M. But you would only ever consider the 880M if you wanted the highest end laptop. MSI sell one with this graphics chip for $3000. For $2000 you get the 870M which is best bang for buck and the 15.6incher comes with 3K screen. Unfortunately I cannot really afford a laptop of this calibre but one can dream :)

Here is an article on the specs they used for the PC trailer.

Thanks! I will definitely refer to this website, and maybe even rebuild my 16 year old laptop again but this time make it modern high end! As of now I'm trying to get the best video card for the tower I'm building, with the most speed and most memory. With that, I can FINIALLY surpass games made in 2004 and play some newer ones, as well as FINIALLY start 3D animating to my full potential. I think my price limit on a video card is no where above $4000. Ahahah, that's 4 times more expensive then the entire tower alone. (Y)

What were your thoughts on the graphical downgrade in the last game and how has this been addressed this time around?

One thing to remember is that the first showing of Watch Dogs came in summer 2012, before anyone knew what the Next Gen of consoles and hardware would be. We did our best at the time to predict what that would be and always were forward that this first showing was running on a very powerful PC.

As if this wasn't obvious enough already. So many dumb gamers freaking out because of this when they just have to thank Sony and Microsoft for obsolete hardware.
However, graphic downgrade is justified, but they could have at least made a decent PC port.
