GTA 1 is a counterpart of Driver: You are the Wheelman
GTA 3 is a counterpart of Driver 2
GTA:VC is a counterpart of Driv3r
GTA:SA is a counterpart of DPL
GTA:LCS is a counterpart of Driver '76

Note: Counterpart information is based on release time

So tell me? Which is better than the other?

My opinion:
Driver 1 is better than GTA 1
GTA 3 is better than Driver 2
GTA:VC is better than Driv3r
GTA:SA is better than DPL
D76 is better than GTA:LCS

Sorry, but with my point of view this is like comparing Driver with The Sims. More realistically Track Mania with Stuntman. There both very different games with very different purposes.

Surly there are some similarities, but it feels like the gta clone word is coming back .

It once again depends on the gamer, their interests and everything. I have a big interest in vehicle dynamics, physics, photo-realistic graphics and the driver series has been big with these points. Whereas the GTA series is quite the opposite.

Therefore I have no comment.
Overall I find driver much better than GTA. I have played all the GTA games so I'm not trying to be a fanboy or nothin. It's all about my interests.

Same for everyone else here. It's not which is better it's all about the player and his/her interests.

One of the things that I hate doing is comparing Driver with GTA. They are far different games with differents idea. As madness said, they have it's similarities, but they still different. The only game that I can imagine comparing with GTA is True Crime, that is "the GTA where you play as a cop".

well personally i like both types of the games DRIVER and GTA, they are all different games yet they are still enjoyable to play, so like madness says i have to say they are all as good as each other.

According to me, Driver game is complex and best than GTA. GTA is motion game. I have seen that Most of the users have felt frozen problem with this game. Even I have also faced same problem. I am still playing driver game , I have never faced any issue with this game. I hope that This game will be announce its new series as soon as.

My preference:

Driver 1 to all gta's
Driver 2 to all gta's
GTA:VC to Driv3r
GTA:SA to DPL
Can't choose between LCS & D'76

I would put 76 over LCS because LCS sucks.

any particular reason why it sucks ?

I used to think the same way.

It uses the VC engine and it manages to still make Liberty City boring and the stupid camera angles.

At first I kinda disliked LCS because I found out it lacks a few vehicles from gta 3 such as old bus.
Later I was dissapointed with new physics model because I was being too conservative, I was kinda addicted to Gta3's floaty & bouncy physics. Now I don't care about gta 3 and the new engine suits me well (Not VC engine. VC uses gta3 engine).
I love the fact they improved the appearance of some vehicles. Love that brand new Curuma, which now looks much better than it's predecessor in my opinion. I love the fact the developers brought 90s atmosphere to the game. The funny thing is that it featured on LCS's radio, while the band has never exist and yet it is the best indie rock song I've ever heard. Best song to listen to while driving!

Generally the game isn't too bad. The more crap I see these days the more I like it.

Driver vs. GTA? Hell, the classics Driver are running over each GTA!

Also here`s my list:

• Driver 1 - better than the whole GTA`s;
• Driver 2 - same as above;
• Driv3r - due to the fact, that on my opinion it`s s**t, GTAVC is better than it, of course;
• Driver DPL - same as above, GTASA is better, of course;
• Driver `76 - I think LCS, was a nice prequel to GTAIII events, although it was released only for PSP and PS2 (like `76), and also had the same based city (New York) I think Drier `76 is better;

Hope that Driver: San Francisco will beat GTA forever!

D:PL? I think it is good game. Not supa scoopa mighty mega good game, but I like it and it has better atmosphere than GTA:SA. 70's forever! aaah...

i hated dpl's atmosphere.

felt cold as sh*t and sorry but revenge isn't my type of thing in most cases.

hmm... I didn't like DPL's modern era atmosphere too. But I think that 1972 was pretty warm.
