I don't trust them. But I hope they're right.

I doubt it, because if it was coming out in the first quarter of 2009 wouldn't it have been advertised or wouldn't we have heard somewhere else somehow, and also, heres a list of games coming out in 2009 from IGN and it doesn't mention Driver.

http://ps3.ign.com/index/release.html

I was looking on the GamesRadar site for a contact link and was going to ask them where they got their info from but there wasn't one.

I'm pretty sure it's fake.
GamesRadar is reputable enough.
We should get an announcment from Ubisoft first.

UK Forum Manager who I assume also is UK Community Manager/Media Relations recently announced the following message on Ubisoft Forums a couple of hours ago.
ms-kleaneasy wrote:As explained in other threads there is currently no information to suggest a new Driver game, should that change I will let you all know but for now consider anything to the contrary rumour.
ms-kleaneasy wrote:There hasn’t been any announcements to suggest any new Driver game, should that change I will let you know but as it stands no, sorry
I'd challenge that announcement, because the interview with BBC mentions their working on a new driver title and the fact Ubisoft Reflections have been hiring staff professionalizing the fields required to develop a successful driving game.

I'm not going to challenge their announcement. Although the BBC reporter said their working on a new driver game he could have said this not to reveal too much about their next title but should have said driving game.

By any chance, could the driving game have been Emergency Heroes?
The second video from the BBC seemed to be EH.

Your right emmetmcl it very well could be.
I haven't played Emergency Heroes yet; damn! Wii Exclusives.

Because some of the vehicles kinda felt cartoon-nistic, futuristic and too well polished for a driver game. But the vehicles where very high-poly and in one of the interviews we seen a cutscene in development (have no idea if that scene is in Emergency Heroes) but it didn't look futuristic enough.

It looks like we just have to wait and see!

Yeah. They're all from EH. But I'm not sure about the cutscenes. It seems that the cutscenes in this game are in an anime-styled one.

damn, BBC. It seems they lied to us all.
Working on their next driver game? when everything that showed wasn't even from a driver game :o .

In the beginning of the interview, someone is shown playing DPL. At least there's something about Driver.

When contacted about the BBC report, a Ubisoft rep stated the following: "We have previously already confirmed that the Reflections studio will continue to work on the Driver series but have nothing further to announce at the moment."

*EDIT*

also, look at these pics:

Image

The car looks like the kind of cars that suit the Driver theme.

the character in the driving seat of that car looks like he has a similar figure to tanner in D3 (do remember that early in development they wont have hair on the characters... hence that woman in the passenger seat is bald...)

and those characters that you can see standing side by side on the desk, look like they are from the 70's texas or something... so I could imagine that one of the levels in D4 may be texas... or they may just be pictures from the 'A Whoopin and a Hollerin' scenes in Stuntman....
