I unfortunately can't run 3DS Max on my computer, because I'm on a Mac, but they are a lot of other good 3D & Architecture programs for Apple.
BTW, I think it's called 3DS Max, no ? I may be wrong.
Yeah, it's 3DS Max, for "3D Studio Max". I tend to miss the "S" but it's not really all that important. Theres only one 3d program with the word max.
I believe there is a Mac version of Maya.
It doesn't have any architectural focus, but it's one of the most powerful 3d modeling applications.
Also be sure to try a demo before you pay so much!
and of course student versions are fairly cheap.
from what I can remember
Student 3dsmax $250
Commercial 3dmax $6000
and of course Student version of Maya is free
.
Just released the subject a little and you can get Maya for Mac. Here is a link =

I think renders have watermarks on them, but at least it give you some insight on what Maya can do.
Also I was just reading this page
http://forums.appleinsider.com/archive/ ... 47471.html
and it talks about; maya being very rare in UK game development companies!
Some people on this page also speak about using 3dmax on boot camp (for max)

from what I remember you can only model things in zmodeler, and you don't have the greatest control and power like you have in blender. Of course naturally 3d max/maya/xsi has more power because of all the developers working on it.
Zmodeler was really only designed for making vehicles for NFS. Then they intergreated many other games. But nothing beats getting a plugin for Blender or similar.
