Story (7/10): "A gang of Miami car thieves attempts to ship forty of the world's most expensive cars to a mysterious international buyer." Tanner and Tobias Jones are back and ready to go undercover again. First thing you'll notice when you start the "Undercover Mode": the cinematics are amazing. The production values for the cutscenes are wonderfull and they bring alot to the story because your always waiting for the next one to appear. To bad the voice acting doesn't follow suite. Atari probally payed big bucks to get Michael Madsen, Ving Rhames, Michelle Rodriguez, and Mickey Rourke to do their respective roles but they should have spent that money elsewhere. None of the the characters sound interesting and the dialogue stitching is awkward at times. The story line moves along at a decent pace but the actual concept (40 stolen cars) is pretty forgetable.

Controls (9/10): Simply put, the vehicle controls are awesome while the on-foot portions suck. Cars and bikes handle great and have a good weight to them (until you hit a jump, inwhich gravity dissapears) Walking/running provide the opposie experience. Tanner's animations just look messed up; the straffing, jumping, and walking all look stiff and awkward. Given Driver 2, 3,and DPL it seems that Reflections has a hard time programming on-foot gameplay. Shooting (a new addition) is adequate and first/third person views are available.

Graphics (9/10): I think the games looks great. The PC version is the best but the console versions are good too. Car damage models are excellent and alot of unique things are featured: bullet holes, the abilty to shoot out headlights, and hanging bumpers. The games physics are excellent. Many environmental objects are destructable and cars have many detachable parts that react in a realistic manner. The cities look great with Nice being the most interesting due to it's assortment of hills, ramps, and alleyways. And between the 3 cities their is alot of road to drive and many buildings to see. Also, the Film Director feature returns and it's as great as ever.

Missions/Difficulty (6/10): The missions vary in quality, some are great like "The Chase" while others like "Gator's Yacht" rely to much on character gameplay. There are only 25 missions so it's not a very long game. Some missions suffer from being to linear and scripted; an example: a faltbed blocks off a path, you shoot at it and it catches fire, but instead of blowing up it just magically distinguishes it self, that's bullsh**. Difficuly is average and you can get through the storymode in about 3-6 hours. Take a Ride mode and the driving games return and this adds near unlimited playtime, the Survuval mode is the best.

Overall: This game should have been a masterpiece. It had 4 years of development and a budget of over 30 million and it still was glitchy as hell. Everytime one of my replays got corrupted I died a little on the inside. It's a real shame how badly this game was raped by the media...because to fully appreciate it, you have to dig deep into the game and many many people did not do that.
