Modding discussion for DRIV3R.

"What do you mean? We already know all of the cars!"

Well, not quite. I just spent the past 45 minutes or so (collectively) gathering the IDs for every vehicle in the game, which is how I managed to change vehicle bodies and such. I've made a list in ascending order, from the lowest possible ID to the highest. It seems there's 15 unused IDs in the game, possibly meaning that 15 or so vehicles were meant to appear in DRIV3R but were later cut from development. Some cars I can think of include the Citroen 2CV, the beta Citroen DS Police Car, '69 Bruiser Race car, Mistubishi Starion, and possibly some others I can't think of at the moment. This does not mean they are still in the game. All vehicles with the listed missing IDs have been removed from the game forever, and no longer exist. Our only chance of finding "beta" cars would be to look in the demo files, however I do not have access to these at the moment. There is a 2% chance I overlooked an ID without realizing it, but it would be an insignificant find.

Here's the list I composed, in ascending order:

I should mention that should we ever get model modding implemented, we'll have 15 empty vehicle slots to use for custom cars! :D

Wow! But im afraid atleast 15 cars were deleted to make these 15 slots right? Only a small note - Nice Police Boat, not Polis :)

I would to see modding going on, its just about time!

Can you find any handling files or something for these 15 missing vehicles? It would help to know what kind of vehicles they were :) good job

Great job mate! ^^

Wow, those 15 cars are a really cool mystery.. I wonder if there was supposed to be a bit younger car in Istanbul, hence the missing one. :P

Keep it up.. and let us know if you find any more juicy DRIV3R info. :D

I forgot to mention that these IDs I found correspond to the handling files. 0x6 means in the BO3 file it's the 6th entry in the header for offsets to handling stuff.

Example:
Code: Select all
FF FF FF FF 00 00 F0 00 58 02 C0 03 >>>28 05<<< 90 06 FF FF ...
Starting from 0x00, we move to 0x06 in terms of 4 bytes for each (a LONG) so FF FF is 0x00, the next FF FF is 0x01, 00 00 is 0x02, F0 00 is 0x03, etc.

Then it's just a little-endian offset to the handling. Unfortunately I haven't figured out exactly how the handling works and what each value is, but I can roughly find out what each function does. Just as a note, "FF FF" means that entry isn't used, so in order to use an entry, you just have to enable it (and then recalculate all of the offsets, YAY). 0x05 isn't used as far as I know, but it's an exact duplicate of the '69 Bruiser in 0x06.

It seems 0x03 is also an exact duplicate of the Bruiser. Either this means I don't fully understand how the IDs are used, or they were just other Bruiser-based cars used for testing. I haven't tested the possibility of them being mission-only cars.

Interesting but the question is how to change the value of a vehicle by another one, with their ID ? So we could test this :P

ok :)

I tried to understand all this stuff about offset, big - little endian, not quite easy in fact.

I was confused at first too, but once you do something over and over again, you start to see patterns, how something might look, and allow you to take a guess as to what it might do. It took me awhile to catch on, but once you get the hang out if, it's a piece of cake.

So it could be the race car and a mission car for example (maybe with some slight differences) :)

You need to stop bumping old topics, that's what you need.
How is this bad, the forum was dead for 1 week....this brings back things to read calm down

This is what I’ve been saying for ages, the whole “Stop bumping this thread” trend is idiotic. I already explained where it came from… it came from forums with listings of cars or other items for sale, and some people bumped the threads after 3 or 4 years when the car was obviously already sold. This annoyed people because it pushed listings that had already ended a long time ago to the top, which means it pushed down new/recent listings. But in a forum like this here, it simply does not make any sense at all… also, what else would you do instead of bumping the thread? Create a new one? Wow, a great solution, so as a result we’d have 10 threads spread all over the board for a single topic :P

But I’m glad that it has calmed down and that people on this forum aren’t so “Stop bumping this thread” anymore :P

And in this case here, it definitely restarted a conversation and it also answered some questions. The dude was sad because he can’t mod, but CL answered him that he’s working on a tool. As a result, the other guy can be happy now and wait for the tool that is needed to mod the game. So that’s one answer to one “problem” which means we’re already one step further on this topic.

ASDFGHJKLÖÄ STOP BUMPING.

In all seriousness though, I have no problem with bumping unless it's something that's actually long gone, done and there's just nothing useful to be added. I remember there was this one user who just kept constantly digging up old topics, posting them with nothing but utterly useless banter which sometimes had nothing to do with the topic in fact.

It’s not useless, it makes you discover old topics again, and then who knows what might happen? You may get an idea and start a new project, it might remember you to check something in-game, etc… don’t be so narrow-minded. It’s just a damn thread. A THREAD, something unreal, something virtual and completely non-important.
