I was literally impressed by this demo.
I really like how the camera angle moves when you jump from a ramp like in Driver PL (much more cinematic), the car physics are less rigid and you and the civilian cars don't get damaged if you hurt them a little. I was also impressed by the fact that I'm able to P.I.T. cars too!

Kinda amazed how little has changed compared to retail. Anyway, it's really interesting to ass around in this beta version of one of my beloved PS1 games. Only real changed I came across are when you go more west, whole cityblocks aren't modeld yet. Oh and the roads in the ocean that are more or less for testign purposes.

I took some time on figuring out how to record the theme (been willing to do that since ages!) and I found out it as well has many variations, however in my personal opinion the 4th variation sounds the best. Here's a link to enjoy it (SF link as I'm having some problems uploading to DM DL :| ):

I also figured out the demo has two main Miami palettes for textures depending on the replay that's currently loaded - several areas would appear with incorrect palette of the textures in Replay 1, while being fine in Replay 2 and vice versa. You can also rotate the camera and zoom it in and out! Pretty cool stuff (Y)

Really interesting to see how different it looked back then, although it's mostly similar. It's just the fact it's unfinished, that's what makes it interesting. What it has looked WIP.

In order to tilt/move/rotate the camera around, hold down the camera button and use the arrow keys to move it around! (Y)

Additionally, smashing into the traffic cars from front side will make the GSX go over their bonnet and eventually jump off (sometimes pretty high up in air)

A kind of glitch: drive in the sea, like this:

and the camera will switch to the copcar camera, then quickly press pause menu button:

and wait for the game to reload. The GSX will not have engine sound, only SFX for burnouts, brakes, smashes etc.

Ya the speed seems incorrect (ePSXe config I presume!), will see what I can do about it and all variations will be uploaded when recorded completely and this time in correct speedrate :wink:

I find it funny that this beta has glitches that are ironed out in Driver, but returned in Driver 2 retail.
Such as? Nothing much about this demo reminds me of Driver 2 (except for the bugginess of it :P)
