Modding discussion for Driver.

Been a fan of Driver pretty much since it came out, and I remember in early PS1 demos some of the barriers were removed from the cities and you could drown in the water. In the final version, the opposite is true. It's not a big deal but I've always been curious as to why this is.

Recently I've seen a video of someone actually removing the barriers from Miami. I was looking to see if there was a download available for a mod like that, but since I couldn't find one I figured I should have a crack at it myself. Thing is, I'm not sure what files I should be looking at or what to edit them with. If someone could guide me in the right direction, I would very much appreciate it.

Sorry for the late reply. I doubt there exist any mod capable of modifying the actual city yet, but there's still using a drive through wall cheat code on console.
On PC, though, I don't think it's doable right now.

Gamersin had an infinite mass video created and he flew into the water in NYC. The drowning animation happened, too.

Maybe. I don't remember that video, but I know you can drown in LA at the beach, and NY near the bridge. I believe also in SF at the bridge as well, but only on one side. But all of that is on the PS1, dunno about the pc version. I know Gamersin does a lot of videos on PS1 as well, so... if you say an infinite mass video, there's a high chance of it being on PS1, as PC has the railroad cheat.
