You want the music from the game? I’m pretty sure this is illegal :P Do you know how big fines are for this kind of sh*t? Or do you mean the unlicensed music such as the menu music, etc.?

What kind of files are they? I haven’t looked into them yet, but are they licensed songs? If yes then you’ll have to ask someone else, I’m afraid… It doesn’t matter what it’s for, I’m not going to mess with Blondie’s or Public Enemey’s lawyers :P Especially when asked in public it’s kind of pretty stupid… if you like the soundtrack, buy it! :) Or what exactly do you want to investigate?

The .xas? Of all things, the .xas? The PS2 version has a LOT more things than just .xas. You could have at least wanted the .xas from the DPL demo, there could be some beta music laying around.

What does this file do? Is it a list of songs from the game? Or an audio format? If it’s a list or something I can go get it, to check if there’s beta music like you say. If it’s songs however, then I’m not sharing them :P

Coyote, you know damn well you can't open those IMG files. They are a proprietary file format made by Reflections. And this talk about lawyers from music artists is stupid, considering this isn't something that's going to be sold for money. I have the XA files for DPL on my computer, am I in possession of illegal music that I will be sued for? No. I bought the game.

Of course I can open them, and I can extract them too :P If I’m sharing them it’s a complete different story. I know how law works! Also, I have lots of things to do in the music business, so I know what I’m talking about. Everyone believes they will never get caught because nothing happened to them so far, what they don’t know is that meanwhile (online-) identities of persons are getting recorded / written down and in 5-6 years everyone gets sued at once. It has happened often enough, just people never read news and therefore never learn it.

Just a few examples with a few clicks on Google:

As you can see there’s even a 12 year old in there who was sued “amongst hundred others” and in another article 50,000 people were sued at once. It’s definitely not something to joke with, downloading will cost you a lot but sharing them will cost you even more. But in the end it’s all up to you if you want to pay one Euro for a song, or a million :P

When you SEND something to someone, the other person obviously has the DOWNLOAD it, this is what it has to do with “downloading”. But I’m not saying anything anymore, it’s not my problem after all :P I just believe that if someone really likes the Driver series, then maybe he should just simply invest a few bucks into the Soundtrack CD that Reflections has released, logically every cent goes into the production of the next Driver game, so all support is needed. Even if probably ¾ of the money goes into the labels behind the songs.

That’s not true, you’re talking about the CD that came with the Limited Edition, which included only certain songs (licensed ones as well as far as I know), there was another CD however which included all of the songs. But yes, probably not easy to find.

Edit: Limited edition CD wasn’t hard to find, but it’s probably useless (although I’m not sure if Collector’s Edition and Limited Edition are the same, so there might be a difference in the soundtrack CD):

I have bougth the game PS2 and PC versions I can see the files on the PC version, but I can't see them on the PS2.
I just can't extract the IMG file, the only thing I want the XA files are only for a study. I'm NOT planning make a relase to public.

I already had made a study about the PC version (find the original name of the song and artist). I almost finishing this list : http://drivermadness.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=93&t=492 , Just missing 2 musics, one from each era.

Also the soundtrack doesn't have all the musics from the game

Coyote, until you post proof that you can open (and extract) the PLAYSTATION 2 Driver: Parallel Lines .IMG file, I think you're full of it. You can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk? Post a screenshot of you opening the .IMG file and then post here a small file from the PS2 that we can verify.

Depends which version :P

CarLuver: every PS2 game I insert in my Mac has an IMG file inside the CD folder, it’s the Apple Disk Image format, and this is usually where the whole content is located. I’ve opened it ages ago to get my hands on some of the tracks, and if dire straits says the tracks are in there, then it probably means I’ve already opened it :P It’s no surprise however, I open .IMG files on a daily basis. And it’s not a Reflections format lol. Where do you have that from?

Because there have been others who have tried to crack it open to no avail. You still haven't proven that you can open it. Besides, what is an Apple Disk IMG doing on a PS2?

EVERY PlayStation 2 Disc has this file that appears when you insert it on a Mac, I’m not sure why you’re seeing it at all on a PC. Maybe a Mac was used for something on the game (I’ve seen Macs in Reflections’ studios), it reminds me a bit of when Mac users compress a Zip file, then sometimes PC users would also see an empty folder called “Mac OS”.

Besides that, I don’t think I need to prove if my Mac can open an IMG file or not… :P

Alright :) I can only tell you next monday however because my PS2 games are in another house (wanted to pick them up anyway to test PCSX2), and I have exams sadly this week so I won’t have time to pick them up earlier.

Sadly not, I can’t find the disc anymore :( It might actually not even be in the other house, but laying somewhere here. I’ve picked up some other old games however, one of them being Starsky & Hutch. Seriously, it’s a horrible game. But it was so much fun playing it with 2 players, and there’s one thing in this game that I definitely want to see in the next Driver: You can put a siren and a police light on ANY car :D
