Special secret documents (hintline)

I was taking a look around Atari's and Ubi's Public FTP's looking for driver content they forgot to delete and found a few interesting files.

I found these documents which include everything which is said when you call the hintline. A line which is charges at a premium rate by the minute. It's a fairly expensive service and I have no idea why anyone would want to use it, when we have hell loads more information than they have to offer and now we have the information for what they say there is no point anyone wasting their money trying out this premium service.

So you can use the following links to download these documents!
Driver - Hintline
Driver 2 - Hintline
Driver 3 - Hintline

I from the structure of these documents I believe you talk to a robot or pre-recorded voice when you make your call. Which I find to be a little stupid especially if you miss something. You have to be bothered writing everything down.

What do you think about this find, these documents and the hints they hand out over the phone?

Well I had just downloaded and read the D1 document and I was rather surprised at what i say, all that for a buck something a minute, what a shame. Just one minute ago I picked up the original D1 PSX game manual and on the back it says "need a hint?" and the little GT interactive symbol and the number and the price. Those docs are obviously robots as you said and its really a shame that they stoop so low to get minet; I guess they can't just make money of the game alone; and that dissapoints me. Well really to me it does just appear a scam to get money considering like we can get like 80% more than that just by ther internet or even the original strategy guide! Oh well, I was always tempted to dial that number on the back cover of the manual and now you know for sure I wont be any more.

Anyways great find! a bit late but still a nice little thing to dig up.

EDIT: Id also like to ask for the link where you got these from and maybe I can dig up something too!

I found these somewhere in Atari's FTP
ftp://ftp.atari.com/
I don't know where exactly, it took me ages to find. But I looked everywhere for things, and that's all I found.

I have also been looking around Ubisofts ftp, there is always a chance that we might see something new around there too.
ftp://ftp.ubi.com/
ftp://ftp.ubisoft.com/

Atari also used to own this ftp
ftp://ftp.download-center.com/
which included all the driv3r screensavers. I think Atari still own it but they deleted everything on it!

Looks good but at ftp://ftp.download-center.com/ there's nothing anymore. You were right madness, they deleted everything.
We should check Ubisoft's ftp, maybe we'll find somthing about Driver 4.

Yeah, if only they would accidentally leak everything for the next driver. Like they did for some of the other titles late last year!

They seem to think it's bad for the development of the game.
I think it helps publicity!

But I have been searching lots of these ftps and hope one of the works at either of those publishers accidentally put something in the wrong spot!

Yeh but maybe they want let people think that Driver is dead (by saying nothing about it) and then when it comes out … BAM ! The Game of THE YEAR !

But why would they do that when they have already said it's coming to next generation consoles.

I also wonder when it's announced if Driver Madness will become more popular :P

Well they announced it, yeh that's right, but it's been unofficially announced and it's not sure.
