Ubisoft Reflections not working on Driver sequel

A recently shared post on Ubi Reflections Facebook page told us they are still not working on another Driver game (which we all pretty much knew anyway) but that if they were allowed to and did want to, they would and they could.

'With its developers’ passion taking Reflections to unexplored realms, is there any chance the studio will return to the franchise that made its name?

“We are not working on Driver,” Jacquey states definitively. “We love the franchise – it is in everybody’s hearts – but it’s not like an obsession, like: ‘Oh, when we will be allowed to work on Driver again?’ If we wanted to, we would and we could. Nobody’s telling us not to do it."

I don't know why she speaks about "obsession" when it has been 5 years since the last Driver.

I don't think she's a real fan (or even a fan) of the franchise...

Just in case they decide to do another Driver: knowing modern Reflections, they will make a very easy game with poor car physics and physics assists to make the player save himself from jumps and collisions automatically (so bye-bye epic crashes), and story-wise, it will be a comedy drama with Nathan Drake-like characters and "life's awesome and killing people is fun" atmosphere. Most Ubisoft devs make games that gather to a very wide audience and Reflections is no exception.
Driver San Francisco at least had good handling, but The Crew and Watch Dogs have been done very poorly regarding driving and physics, despite being fun games. Watch Dogs 2 doesn't look this promising, either, but luckily it's not a game centered on driving.

They better not touch that franchise that other competent developers has started. Driver San Francisco was awesome, but I take it as a spin-off.

It seemed that Reflections had gone from being a singular force of innovative development to another cog in the corporate machine.
Totally agree with that part of the article.
"This is going back to what Reflections was 15 years or a decade ago: a pioneering studio"
So working as a support studio for other games and making a indie game in the last 5 years is pioneering?

As stated in my previous posts I hope they sell the franchise to another studio since Ubisoft doesn't care about the Driver brand before its too late. Better that than a speedboat game using Driver name or a dumbed down Driver as EngiGuy stated.

Totally agree. A studio who will not consider Driver as the fifth wheel on the wagon.
