Discussion for Driver 2: Back on the Streets [EU] / Driver 2: The Wheelman is Back [US] (2000)

Initial release dates:

Driver - June 30, 1999
Driver 2 - November 13, 2000

502 Days = 1 Year, 4 Months, 14 Days
502 Days = 12,048 Hours
502 Days = 722,880 Minutes
502 Days = 43,372,800 Seconds
502 Days = 71 Weeks (plus 5 Days)

They only had 43 million seconds to make Driver 2. Ever since ePSXe v2, I've been able to play it at 1920x1080 with bells and whistles at a steady 25 FPS. I can also have true widescreen if I'm prepared to deal with the graphical glitches, which I am. That's well good enough for me.

I don't think the main problem was the shortage of time, but rather what the publisher's opinion was. For example Angel Studios released 3 games in 2000, Midtown Madness 2 on September 22, 2000 (with Microsoft as Publisher, for the PC); Midnight Club: Street Racing on October 25, 2000 and Smuggler's Run on October 26, 2000 (both under R* for PS2)... A lot of other developers also kept releasing new titles every year.. like in the NFS Series, Test Drive etc.. I guess you know what I mean.

As much as emulation became more and more advanced, nothing beats playing the game in the way it's supposed to look in the PC. Compare both the PC and PSX versions of Driver and the differences are a lot. It would be amazing if someone successfully ports it to PC in the future, but that just looks like a silly dream for now.
