In DRIV3R, Tanner was voiced by Michael Madsen. Throwing out numbers here, Tanner looks and sounds like he could be anywhere from his mid 30s to mid/late 40s.
But then, in DSF, Tanner looks and sounds way younger than what we just saw above!

To this day his major 6 month change shocks me. He was changed from cold, ruthless and obsessive to friendly, comedian, laid-back chilled 70's cop. (I guess it's more of going back to the roots.) But he also resembles Nathan Drake a little, (Somebody once said to me the bullet in his back might have changed who he was, but the Dark and Ruthless Tanner is still there when his hate for Jericho boils.)

Did he age properly? No. I understand why they did it though. My guess is they were going to that Driver 1 look as a part of re-energizing Drievr. His face is quite similar to the loading screens and the character itself in Driver 1.

He didn't age properly at all. BUT if the Tanner from Driv3r were in DSF, it just wouldn't fit the tone at all.

Agree with you guys, they were afraid to continue with Driv3r legacy because of how it was received back then by the critics, so they instead brought back Driver 1 style with esque Driv3r storyline continuation, although i disagree a little bit with this continuation because for me it also seemed to leave a bit the remaining things at the end of Driv3r. They could 100% recreate Driv3r Tanner again but probably they didn't want to because it would look too continuist so they instead, as you said, they refreshed his image.

I vote for "other", Tanner from Driver SF is younger but phisycally he is different, even his voice and personality. I wouldn't compare Tanner from Driv3r to the other from Driver SF.

While I agree to the others that Driver SF's Tanner is similar to the first game, his personality is still completely different.

Driv3r tanner and driver San Francisco tanner are completely different. Maybe when tanner had a near death experience in driv3r he realised being ruthless and obsessive is not the way to live, that's how I think about it

You took the words out of my mouth, LOL yeah I always figured that when I would look at tanner in Driver 3 he looks stressed out from the missions, near death experience , pretty much it ages him. & then when I look at SF he looks way different as if he's not as ruthless as he was in Driver 3
