Do you think that the perception of speed in DSF should have been higher at lower speeds?

One thing I've always been annoyed at with video games that involve driving, is the poor perception of speed, and speed limiters. Driver SF (by the demo version) I feel is off on the speed. As I say for ever single game, too slow for what the speed thermometer says. And the speed limit that the cars have are annoying (I'm saying different games then SF) Such as using nitro or going down hill in cars in certain games will not increase the cars speed at all if it's reached it's maximum speed limit. That's what I will change in the games I will make. Every vehicle can be pushed far beyond the limits of their engines. There is no speed limiter, it will eventually get to a point where it's harder for the car to continue increasing speed. Such as, a modern day garbage truck, if the engine has been modified to be stronger but improperly balanced out with the other parts that will cause instability. If pushed passed the original engine's capabilities the truck will begin to over heat, and eventually begin to fall apart as well as the engine will cut out randomly and speed up. The breaks, gas pedal, and clutch can all fail during the overheat. The engine may ignite in flames and if something falls off and strikes another part hard enough, that will break more of the engine, causing a serious risk of dyeing in a car crash.
