You can't unlock any other cars than the 4 in the 4 cities in the PSX version of Driver can you?

What do you mean with "unlocking cars" ? You can only drive the cars that are give to you. If you wish to drive one of the other cars, then you should always save the game and keep the data so you can always come back when there's a mission with a special car. This is what I've actually done.

That sounds like a really clever idea. Can you also like disable the clock so you can DRIVER around as long as you like, maybe with that mission editor tool or something

On the PC version you can drive any car in free roam mode, in the PSone version you can't, and there are also no editor tools or something like that for PS1

Sorry for failing to read carefully enough about the question pertaining to the PlayStation version of the game. I guess I should also be embarrassed about asking what I did, but I have not played any Driver[1] missions for a long time. All I do is play in Take a Ride mode. I did not know I already had all the cars there are. Thanks for the reply, man.

The last time I've played Driver 1 was 1-2 months ago. I don't really play video games anymore
