And now for the Driver soundtrack with Allister Brimble on the PlayStation tracks, Rockett Music on the 8-bit Gameboy versions, and a variety of classic and contemporary funk artists on the PC version's licensed library music, all lovingly recorded and encoded into 16 bit FLAC by yours truly.

I have uploaded version 2 of the Driver Unofficial Soundtrack! I don't have enough room for any story material at this moment with this one full audio CD format, but I might span into a double-disc LP if I have the time ;)

Version 3 is up! I have added Newcastle Chase. This brings it over 80 minutes, and so it all cannot fit on a single audio CD, but just remove your least favourite track and you're good to go.

I have also refreshed the ReplayGain info.

LP version is underway...

Fixed it up :)

Our very own Fireboyd managed to extract the XMs a little while ago, however due to the proprietary format they were in, there's a few missing effects and stuff that needs to be fixed up. I know SFA about how to write tracker music so it's going to take a while for me to fix it up and "remaster" this soundtrack. But it is in the works. The music in that video above has been "fixed", and the author has taken the liberty of adding some extra bass notes in a few bars near the end of the loop.

w0w. Exciting!!!! So those bass farts are a glitch from implementation into the game? The great Allister Brimble must have been crushed to hear like that >.<

It's not uncommon for games to use heavily compressed audio. The days of Redbook are over unfortunately. ADPCM and other compression schemes are still commonly used.

As far as Driver and Driver 2 are concerned, my best guess is the playback sampling rate was halved to save CPU cycles. That's the quickest way to save a sh*t-ton of space but the audio quality usually suffers. Why the devs didn't just use ADPCM/XA for the music too instead of just for cutscene audio and voice samples is beyond me.

Hey there!!

Any progress on processing the original XM files?

Also, thank you very much for the rips!! Hopefully a full high-quality album made directly from the original files finally see the light of the day!

Seems like Allister Brimble is reworking his songs too. Can't wait to listen to both projects! =D

Not yet, I had a bit of work done then lost it all in a hard drive crash along with my entire music library and the rest of my projects. Always RAID your sh*t boys.

Another guy around here has managed to do it but I can't recall who it is and he's got them in OGG (lossy).
