only thing the owner could tell me is that the kids have been playing in it throughout the years. Not that anyone specific damaged it like that :/
Edit: I also have a Citroen AX '87 standing on the next farm near this one and it has been standing longer then this Corolla, since 2001. Yet it looks MILLION times better... 1 rust hole on each side but 1 infront, and no dents, no broken windows, but a bit bad on the inside. So I don't get it lol.
Here it is, standing for many years more then the corolla and is supposed to be in WORSE condition than it.. seems like it's not true. :/
The outside means absolutely nothing… we have an old-timer Mercedes standing in the garage in another house in Austria. I went to visit it several times not too long ago because I was hoping to get it on the road again. The car looked rather good from the outside, no rust or such thing, interior still in very good condition too. But I new that lots of things would be wrong with it, it’s been standing for 15 years and the garage was never heated because we are never really there.
So for the next time when I went there I brought an old-timer specialist and a Mercedes-Benz technician with me, to check the car’s condition for real. It would have been idiotic to pay for transport costs and an inspection in Austria’s official motor club to then just realise that it was all for nothing because the car was in a terrible condition.
Because that’s exactly how it was. The car was in a terrible condition, the whole undercarriage was rusty, and very important parts which basically hold the whole car together would have to be cut out and replaced, a huge job. And that’s like 1% of the whole work…
Of course we would never scrap the car, it’s way too rare. It was also my grandpa’s first car, so it holds personal value as well. But I would need very big amounts of money to get it work again haha, and I guess for some cars, such as the silver or red car you posted, it would simply not be worth it, because the tools to repair the car already cost more than both cars together are worth.
The point of this story is that the outside doesn’t say anything about the condition of a car, and that it’s very possible that the red car is in better condition than the silver one.
