3GB DDR SDRAM at 400MHz

4:3 CRT monitor
SB Live 5.1 with two little desktop speakers and one subwoofer unit
DX 9.0c

I bought my first PC in 2000 over the telephone. I told the person on the line that I wanted to use it for gaming. She did not know what she was talking about, so I immediately had to upgrade the memory and graphics card. The PC has never needed any repairs.

I thought that the reliability and smooth performance of the first PC seemed like a good reason to buy from Dell again later on. I was wrong. This thing failed, or its components did anyway. I had to replace many things beginning about 13 months after delivery of the PC, including the PSU, the HDD, the DVD drive, the vid card (the notorious 128MB DDR ATI Radeon 9800 Pro), and the monitor.

I guess next time I will build a desktop PC myself using an online guide.

LOL.! I look at it on a TV, but yes. I still do not even use a microwave oven. I need to get one of those wide screen monitors, I guess. They look pretty cool.

Boss, sometimes I think you might be a little too efficient with words for me to follow. Is that a question of some sort or a recommendation? Sorry if I am making too many posts in here, and you only really want to see the specs posts. You can delete this if you want, but first please make a reply so I do not miss out on what you mean.

My old computer that I had before I upgraded had around 2 GB DDR 400 mhz ram, a 2 Ghz single core and a Geforce 4600 ti. Was quite a shock going from that card to the 9800.

If 2GB of ram and a Dual Core CPU is considered a "Toaster", then mine must be a fu*king tin opener. Any piece of hardware I've owned with better specs that comes within 10ft of this piece of sh*t breaks within the next year. So, yes, I have the last slow computer on earth, which is apparently the fu*king devil, and refuses to die (8+ years now).

EDIT:

I hesitated to do this for the safety of your hardware and possibly yourself, but here are my shocking specs.

ACPI Uniprocessor PC
256 MB RAM
Intel Celeron CPU 2.66gh
VIA/S3G UniChrome Pro IGP (Generic Integrated GPU)

I know what you're thinking "That is not a Computer".

PS1 emulators literally require almost nothing to play it on.
FYI OS is the only thing that could limit a computer from using the internet, as long as the hardware is compatible with internet.
Also my ARMADA M700 Ran Internet explorer slowly but steadily back in 2012 when Windows XP wasn't expired. (FYI this laptop used to run Windows 98 on it's release)

Some people consider everything a toaster. "Is that a 64 core processor you have? Ah it must be junk" -Some person in 2032.

If you think "I have the last slow computer on earth" then you obviously didn't scan the 14 specs I had posted several days ago.
Your specs aren't all that bad, for gaming and unnecessarily HD animated advertisements I just know how slow it feels. I used to be stuck with ONLY my M700, which had (at the time (2012ish) 128MB RAM combined with a 500Mhz Pentium III processor. "(8+ years now)" This laptop was from 1998. Don't even get me started on the video memory :P

Nah your machine sounds pretty solid.

RAM:
  • 8GB DDR3-1600 (1600mhz I think)
GPU:
  • Intel HD Graphics 4600 (integrated)
MSI GTX 770 (main GPU ofcourse)
Storage:
  • SSD: 256GB Samsung 830
    HDD1: 500gb

Age:
  • 6 months at time of writing

  • Apple Wired Keyboard (I love its non loud button-push sound)
Speakers:
  • Logitech S-220
I also have a raspberry pi on the network that acts like a file server (SAMBA). It has a 2TB hdd connected to it.
I have not taken that in my computer specs, but it does give me 2tb extra space.

My main computer specs

Monitor:
  • 5120 x 2880 LG Panel
Processor:
  • Intel Core i7 i7-4790K 4.0Ghz (4.4Ghz Turbo Boost)
RAM:
  • 8GB DDR3 1600mhz planning to upgrade to 24GB soon if I find it necessary
Storage:
  • HDD: 3TB + 128GB
GPU:
  • AMD R9 M295X with 4GB VRAM
(works great but the Nvidia optimised title Watch Dogs runs quite poorly please The Crew work great) - (NFS: Rivals runs on medium at 4K, GRID: Autosport runs Ultra on 4K)

Nice and power efficient :D
But pricey, this has to last me a long time.

Even modern games must be stretched to hell on that thing. (inb4 muh UI scaling)
And good luck trying to play anything old.
But... but... I do a lot of video work. Some even in 4K! There is enough for 100% resolution and a little bit of the timeline. All the games I have thrown at it have worked great except Watch Dogs for some reason I have to run that at Medium probably because of silly Nvidia battle to the death with ATi. I haven't played any older games yet might give Driver, Driver 3 and Driver PL a whirl soon see how it runs.

Ok so Driver PL and Driv3r max out at 2K resolution but both look alright.
D3 takes up a full 4:3 aspect ratio.
DPL is surrounded by black boxes.

All modern games I have ever played 2010> work perfectly fine. I haven't had any issues what so ever.
Well except "Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed", loads up with polygons all over the screen. Had similar trouble with one of my nvidia cards and San Andreas a long time ago (like the year the game was released).

But I cannot complain it's only one recent game. Also it's got a 125 watt GPU in here. So the environment will be happy enough I'm not using some monster 300 watt card. Or Perhaps, Tri-SLI Titan Black or something.

4k monitors have big advantage of space. I mean workspace. I'm 3d artist. I have to have opened Photoshop, Blender, IrfanView with reference and some folders at once. You can say - you can buy two monitors, not one with 4k. Yup. But even with two monitors with 1366px resolution have too less workspace for comfortable docking subwindows in graphic programs.
