Because video games are fun.

In September 2013 Watch Dogs was classified at MA15+ by the Australian Classification Board but now, after the extended delay, Ubisoft has paid the board to reclassify the game and the classification has been changed to R18+.

Why? At this point in time we only have the information on the Classification Board’s website to go on. It seems like Watch Dogs has been changed to R18+ as a result of ‘high impact’ violence. This might be a result of additional content, or it could be inconsistency on the Board’s part. At this point we simply don’t know.

We don’t know because Ubisoft has asked the Classification Board to withhold releasing the report until 17 March for “commercial reasons”.

We also got in contact with Ubisoft locally regarding the change in classification, and we hope to have additional information, in the form of an official statement, overnight.

Commercial reasons could mean that the violent content is related to something new Ubisoft wants to roll out in a more controlled PR driven manner. It could be related to some sort of plot spoiler. Nevertheless, we won’t know until Ubisoft tell us, or until 17 March when the report is made available.

It's 1998 again but much lighter LOL!

For those of you who don't know, Carmageddon 1 and 2 are extremely violent video games that were banned in many countries due to the intense gore. A censored version was made with zombies instead of humans so some countries could still play this game, but they still downloaded patches to put humans back into the game.
With the ability to plow through sidewalks and enjoy the pedestrians explode with a very bloody blast, you can see why this game was banned in many countries! In 1998, gore at that level wasn't made yet so it was very new to everyone.

In that screenshot, I had turned the gore level to "Soft and fluffy" so I could post it on DM.
Vehicles are soft body like, able to dent in any form possible (based on the polygons there). It's only in the 2010's that we have been getting soft body physics like Carmageddon!
Anyway, it reminded me of that whole situation lol. :)

If it is going to be like Half-Life then they better don't bother releasing the game here at all. Same with Left 4 Dead 2 - They removed ALL THE GORE. In case you have never played that game, here is a short summary: GORE. Here is a short summary of the German version: F**K ALL.
They are doing this because they think "realistic" depictions of violence cause aggression, while actually the opposite is the case: Censorship makes me really aggressive!

Actually, it is totally possible (and reading the article again, likely) that it is just about one single cutscene. It would be... well, not acceptable, but at least not completely f***ed if they censored just that.
BUT I SWEAR, IF THEY GO FULL RETARD ON ANOTHER GOOD GAME I WILL MARCH RIGHT UP TO BERLIN AND S**T IN THOSE C*******ING USK M**********R FACES. YOU HEAR ME, FELIX? I WILL TEAR YOU APART

Ahahahahhahhahahahahahahah! Still, I don't see why gore is such an issue. It should be the choice of the consumer to choose if they want to buy a game that's full of ultimate realism (Gore, sexual crap, and so on). People are trying to go on power trips to control everyone's personal things too. lol

To quote german politician Edmund "Gobshite" Stoiber: "They [violent games] incite adolescents to kill other humans."( http://www.sueddeutsche.de/politik/deba ... n-1.893849)

This is all because those psycho c***s who go on massacres in schools played these kinds of games, but who doesn't? I see it as an insult that my sanity is questioned. I play violent games and I have never harmed another human being except for a few cases where it was either an accident or they really deserved it.
...sh*t, maybe they were right...

Anyways, people who do get incited to kill others must have previously been psychologically f**ked in the head, meaning that the real problem is early prevention. No one murders a real person because they like how polygons bleed pixels. Everyone knows the difference between a virtual world and reality.

So if they censor Watch_Dogs I will personally tear them a new a**hole.
