So I managed to find a copy of Driver '99 and got it installed on my Windows 8 PC and it plays very well, but I'm having issues with the music. It plays the music for about 10 seconds then it stops and restarts, over and over. Is there any way to fix this? I played the hell out of this game as a kid and I'd love to play it again without issues. Any help is appreciated!

Yes, I've tried running it in 95, 98 and XP modes and it does the same thing every time.

Okay, so I was planning to upload a video of what it's doing, but I found out that when Driver is minimized, the music plays without issue. But once I switch back to full screen, it starts tripping out again. I've tinkered with the video and audio settings for what seems like an eternity but nothing seems to make a difference. *sigh*

Wow, I'm sorry to hear. Have you tried running it in windowed mode? If that didn't do anything, then I'm really out of ideas. You may have to deal with it or turn the music off. I know I didn't get to enjoy the music, I'm sure you'll do fine.

I've tried to figure out how to switch it to windowed mode but there are no options for it in the game or in Properties, and F11 doesn't do anything. im confus

It's most likely Windows 8. It's known for capability issues with games built for operating systems older then XP. Windows 7 home isn't compatible with Carmageddon 2's sound and has displaying issues. Windows 7 Professional has a special "Windows XP" mode which is more advanced then simply enabling capability mode. In result, all the problems with capability are destroyed. I think Windows 8 Pro MIGHT have that feature too, but I know nothing much about 8.

What. It's compatibility.
The problem with the music stems from the fact that the .dll that controls ingame music playback was programmed for Win95 and 98.
Is there anyway to fix that problem though? A patch or special program maybe?

Correcting me was unnecessary. I'm pretty sure I covered the possible source of the issue, if the sound file itself is broken, you can try to find one on the internet to replace it with.
