Having an issue with the game you can't seem to figure out? Request assistance here!

Hi everyone :),

Hopefully the title will help you understand my topic. I've got the disc version of Driver on the PC. I'm using Windows XP and a SoundBlaster X-Fi XtremeMusic. I know that my older SoundBlaster Audigy SE was causing the same problem. What happens is, the Main Menu music and in-game music plays for about 5 seconds then repeats. It doesn't this all the time. I remember a while back looking up about this problem... couldn't really find much help.

I don't if there is a cure? Driver Madness a long while back had a patch to try, but it didn't seem to help. The game runs great other than the music repeating quickly. If you can help, I thank you! I'm wanting to play the PC version more than the PSX version. :)

Try running Driver using a different driver; go to the main menu, sound and at the top where it might say creative, hit return and try another driver. Alternatively if it is just the music, there is away to send it in an analogue form from the CD drive to the sound card (this is an old fashioned way, but I am not quite sure how, if you do find out, then that will stop it skipping, hope this helps!

Sorry for the late reply, been sick. I may have to finally give up on running the PC version with all working. Must be met to be played on Windows 95 and 98. I do have the PSX version, but I thought I would try the PC version again. I know that sites you can get the downloadable version, doesn't include the music. I tried TryGames version, didn't hear any music at the main menu. If I remember correctly, Music was "Off" in the sound menu. Oh well, it was worth a try again.

I thought you guys covered this before.

Gr@M wrote:I know how to fix this problem. You need to insert Driver CD in the first drive( i mean with first letter - D). Then replace game.exe with this fixed one http://rapidshare.com/files/207226579/D ... X.rar.html . Rename next files:
key.usa into key.ger, lang.usa into lang.ger & mission.usa into mission.ger. Music will work & you'll never have 8-sec. problem.
Works for me & my friends.
Does that not really work or something, then? Hard to try it now since the download site says, "This file has been removed from the server, because the file has not been accessed in a long time. " Maybe you can get it from somewhere else and do that fix. It is too bad the name of this game always made it difficult to search for stuff related to the game without getting a gazillion other results associated with the word "driver".

Yeah, I've been having the music skip problem in the PC version as well. However, I've been hesitant to try the fix in that other thread because wouldn't that change the game's language into German? I understand a little bit of German, but I'd rather play Driver in English.

Hi all, new member here ! :)

I love Driver: Y.A.T.W. I played it on the PSX when it first came out and would spend hours just playing Take A Ride. :specialdriver:

I'm also having this problem and I have the US version. How do I know what version I have and what patch should I apply?

Actually the issue is fixed in the vertex patch I made, but I don't think I made one with just the music repeating problem. I probably should though, and if people want it I can make a patch that just includes the 32-bit screenshot fix and the music loop issue. If you just want to get it fixed immediately you can try downloading the vertex patch and using it. It may still have some bugs though, so if you find any issues with the shininess on cars, damage, or crashes, let me know at someone972sgames@hotmail.com.

Thank you for the quick response. Yes please make that patch :D

I'll try your vertex patch to see if it fixes the problem in the meantime. The CD I purchased indicates it's the US version. Which patch should I be on and where do I find it?

You know it's funny that so many want the music in the game and many of the responses i've read on the net regarding this problem has been, "just put the CD in and play track#2 or listen to your favorite band etc". For me the answer is simple, the music changes when you are chased by the cops and it's like being in a scene from a Hollywood movie. :)

EDIT: I tried it and the music does come on but it doesn't change the tempo when the cops are chasing you and it just plays the entire track and then when it's finished playing that track there's no more music. I never played the PC version until now. Most of my time with this awesome game was on the original Playstation. I may have to buy a copy. Does anyone know if it will play on the Playstation 3? :?
